Quartz Sand 0.4–0.8 mm is a premium-grade filtration medium engineered for use in pool water sand filters and water treatment systems. With its controlled grain size and high silica content, this natural sand delivers consistent mechanical filtration by capturing fine debris, dust and suspended solids that can cloud pool water and strain pump systems.

The specific grading of 0.4–0.8 mm strikes an ideal balance between filtration efficiency and hydraulic flow, ensuring that water passes smoothly through the filter while effectively trapping contaminants. This results in improved water clarity, reduced filter maintenance and longer intervals between backwashing.

Filter sand has been ground to a main size of 0.45 to 0.55 mm in diameter and is very rough when new. This roughness is what makes the sand efficient at filtering out the particles of dirt in your water. As this roughness is smoothed out – as stones in a stream wear smooth over time – your filter’s efficiency goes down.

This quartz sand is clean, dry and low in impurities, allowing immediate use straight from the bag with minimal preparation. Its durability and hardness make it ideal for both residential and commercial pool sand filter applications.

Remember

That the useful lifespan of the sand in your filter is 3-5 years. If you neglect to change the sand, your filter will not be able to remove the finer particles of dirt and your swimming pool can never be completely clean. Have the pool filter opened for inspection at leastevery 2 years to avoid filtration problems.
